Hookflash x JM Clark – UK Search awards finalist

Hookflash are a Digital Optimisation agency, specializing in SEO, Analytics, and Experimentation (CRO). We began operating in January of 2023, and since then have experienced significant growth, servicing over 70 clients during this time.

The SEO team was founded in October of 2023, and has quickly doubled in size following the onboarding of many clients. One of the early clients to join us was JM Clark, which is the client results we entered into the UK Search Awards.

As a relatively new team, it is incredibly meaningful to be a finalist in such a prestigious awards. We strongly believe in the work that we’re doing for clients, especially when we can see that we are driving such tangible results. We are working with businesses who are the leaders in their field, and who prioritise their customer’s experience above all else. This really closely aligns with the Hookflash SEO team’s approach, which is to place the customer at the forefront, guided by best practice.

JM Clark are a national Road Sweepers business, offering operated machinery hire that spans from sweepers, mini sweepers, waste removal and road marking services. When they onboarded with the SEO team earlier in the year, they had undertaken no optimisations up until that point, but were excited for the challenge it was about to bring.

The overall goal was to futureproof the website for long-term growth through a comprehensive SEO strategy of technical, local, and content-focused optimisations.

The approach for optimisation was as follows:

  • Consolidating legacy domains
  • Consolidating legacy services pages, and optimising the remaining pages
  • Creating new landing pages where necessary to give different services the best chance in search
  • Creating new locations landing pages to facilitate enhanced performance in local search
  • Site performance & technical optimisations

The goal was to increase brand awareness, and to increase overall site traffic through organic search. Given that this was a fairly sizeable overhaul of the site, it was anticipated that it could take some time for the improvements to take shape. Fortunately, Google favoured us, and we very quickly saw the following results (over a 15 week comparison period):

  • Overall site traffic increased by +47%
  • Unbranded site traffic increased by a whopping +88%
  • Largest contentful paint improved to raise the number of customers experiencing a ‘Good’ experience from 41.5% to 87%.

Even after the award entry was submitted, we are continuing to see excellent results from our optimisations, and are excited by upcoming plans to further grow the website.
